Installation of Reports ForNAV
The product installation support two different installation types. When the installer is run, you choose between development mode and deployment mode. Development mode is for the developer who wants to convert classic reports or use the designer. Deployment mode is for your live installation where you want to run the reports designed with this tool.
Basically the installation has four different elements.
- Server add-in for running the reports on the server.
- Client add-in used for report development and printing to printers that are only connected to the client machine.
- Designer for editing existing and creating new reports.
- Converter for converting classic reports to run on new NAV installations.
When you want to develop and convert reports, you typically install all the components on your machine. When you install at the customer site, you normally only need the server add-in installed on the server. New versions of NAV will automatically deploy the add-in to the clients. This means that nothing has to be installed on the NAV client machine.
Server Installation
All you need on the server is the DLL file in the Add-in folder. Once the DLL is copied to the folder, the NAV server will see it and your reports are ready to run on the server side.
